Haven Farm we shear the ewes in October. Their wool is nice
and white after the summer on pasture and cleaner. It also means
we don't have to shear them before lambing when it's cold outside. The remainder of the flock, rams
and yearlings, are shorn in April and May. If you would like to

Blackface wool is a very durable and a naturally springy long-staple wool.
It is prized for use in felting, rugs, tapestries and outerwear. The use of Scottie fleeces by fiber artists and
hand-spinners is growing for use in rugs, blankets, and wall hangings.
It is an excellent wool for felting. |
