Haven Farm shears the ewes six weeks before they lamb. This is
late-January or early February. The remainder of the flock, rams
and yearlings, are shorn in April and May. If you would like to

Blackface wool is a very durable and naturally springy long-staple wool.
It is prized for use in carpets, tapestries, overcoats, and filler for
mattresses. The use of Scottie fleeces by fiber artists and
hand-spinners is growing for use in rugs, blankets, and wall hangings.
It is an excellent wool for felting projects. |
